Let’s have a closer look at how PacKit can help you.

PacKit’s Key Features

PacKit Workspaces for Centralized Package Management

PacKit empowers you to create, update, and seamlessly upload software packages to Intune and MECM (formerly SCCM). It helps you organize your packaging workflows into workspaces, allowing you to manage multiple applications in an organized and efficient manner. Each workspace is like a dedicated area where you manage packages for certain clients or locations.

Within each workspace, every application includes the following key information:

  • Version: Specify the software version.
  • Installation Command: Define how the application should be installed.
  • Uninstallation Command: Specify the command for uninstallation.

For EXE installers added via our application catalog, PacKit auto-fills the installation and uninstallation commands; otherwise, you need to provide the command lines. For MSI or MSIX applications, PacKit automatically populates both the installation and uninstallation fields, as these formats have a unified standard approach when it comes to command lines.

Additionally, you can easily add pre-configured packages to your workspace using our Winget Integration:

Or you can even browse our new catalog to find a package and copy the silent command line displayed in the package preview panel.

PacKit Seamless Integrations for Efficient Deployment

After setting up your workspaces and configuring the post-packaging options, PacKit provides several deployment options to choose from:

  • Generate an .intunewin file.
  • Wrap it with PSADT.
  • Upload to Intune or MECM.
PacKit main functionalities

When selecting “Generate .intunewin” or “Wrap with PSADT”, be sure to check where your installer is located, as both options include all the media and files that are found alongside the installer.

When you generate a .intunewin file, a new package will appear under your application with the extension of .intunewin.

PacKit also comes equipped with essential tools for troubleshooting and debugging your MSIX packages. You can find these tools in the left-hand menu under “Tools.”

Free Troubleshooting Tools

PacKit integrated tools

Over the years, at Advanced Installer, we have developed multiple free tools for the IT community, which are included in PacKit, because we believe these tools should be in the hands of every IT professional.

Hover

Hover enables you to run natively installed applications within an MSIX or App-V container.

Hover, by Advanced Installer

When you’re troubleshooting applications, repetitive PowerShell commands, or manually attaching the registry.dat files can be time-consuming.

Hover streamlines this process by providing a user-friendly interface. You can select the target app container, and launch the desired program directly from the Hover GUI.

MSIX Troubleshooter

MSIX Troubleshooter helps you diagnose and resolve failed installations of MSIX, APPINSTALLER, or MSIXBUNDLE packages.

It collects information about the operating system and the user account under which it runs, extracting critical information from the package and checking it against built-in rules.

Any issues are flagged in the “Details” column, and some can be addressed directly via the “Action” column.
